Our AGM was held yesterday in the best of all possible venues, Worcester Cathedral: many thanks to the members who generously braved the very cold weather to lend their support.
Officers and committee members were duly elected or re-elected; a revised constitution and the year’s account were approved.
Our President (Dr Peter Nardone, Organist and Director of Music at Worcester Cathedral) gave a very supportive address, the Chairman reported on the diverse and successful activities and achievements of the year, and the programme for the year ahead was outlined – all on the Programme page of this website
A new scheme to provide financial (and so practical) help to young people seeking organ education was fully approved (and launched there and then with donations from members).
Christopher Allsop (Worcester Cathedral) and Andrew McCrea (Royal College of Organists) spoke most encouragingly about WOA, both in general as members and from the standpoints of their institutions. There was a most gratifying vote of thanks from the floor. We were then able to hear Christopher practising his profession, as he conducted the music for Choral Evensong, which members attended in the Cathedral Quire.
